Le Frigo Vert is Hiring!
Job title: Collective Member
Hours per Week: 25 hours, evenings and sometimes week-ends may be required.
Competitive wage with health benefits after 3 months.
Application Deadline: 11:59pm Sunday, January 29th, 2012
Le Frigo Vert is currently hiring a collective member to join its team. As a not-for-profit health food store and community organization, Le Frigo Vert is committed to being a viable alternative business model, community resource and progressive work environment. We aim to provide affordable healthy food to the community at a fair price to producers, and to collect and share educational resources and skills that help us challenge oppressive systems.
Responsibilities:
Collective responsibilities include contributing to and participating in the overall health and well-being of the organization. All collective members have store shifts that involve cleaning, stocking, customer service, receiving orders, handling cash transactions and orientating volunteers. Collective members are also required to attend weekly meetings and participate in meeting tasks within a consensus model. As their hours allow, collective members take on other tasks: administrative, financial, ordering, education programming and outreach.
Le Frigo Vert operates at full capacity between September and May of each school year. During the summer there is not always work available. (If there is work available it may be possible to work in the summer).
Requirements:
Available to work until May 20th 2012 and again starting September 1st 2012.
A commitment to anti-oppression and social justice.
Interest and/or experience with consensus-based decision-making.
Ability to work independently while being accountable to a collective structure.
Ability to manage time, problem solve, communicate openly, and resolve conflict.
Ability to work under pressure.
Assets:
Prior experience working or volunteering with community-based organizations and/or collectives.
Knowledge and or experience with: budgeting; bookkeeping; numbers; financial tracking systems, forms, and software; inventory management. For a retail store and/or a non-profit is a plus!
Feel free to emphasize any other skills and experience you might have. For example: building maintenance, computer skills, popular education training, public outreach, construction, communications and media work, conflict resolution, experience working in a retail store, knowledge of food politics/issues, etc.
Employment Equity:
Le Frigo Vert has an employment equity policy. If you identify as a member of a marginalized group, we strongly encourage you to apply. Please indicate in your cover letter if you would like to be considered for employment equity.
To our great regret the current location of Le Frigo Vert is not wheelchair accessible. We are committed to moving to a wheelchair accessible space in the future when a logistically and financially viable option arises.
If you are selected for an interview, you will be notified on Wednesday, February 1st. The interviews will take place on Friday, February 3rd or Saturday February 4th, 2012.
Please send a cover letter and resume to:

Resumes without cover letters will not be considered. *Please no phone calls or mail submissions.
